Elio Catania is Chairman of Confindustria Digitale, the Federation of Ict companies in Italy from 2014. He graduated in Electro-technical Engineering at the ‘La Sapienza’ University in Rome, had gained his Master’s Degree of Management Science at the ‘Sloan Fellow School’ of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Boston. He has spent most of his management career in IBM where he reached Top Management positions as President of IBM Latin America, South Europe and Italy and became Member of the Worldwide Management Council. He has been Chairman and CEO of Ferrovie dello Stato, Chairman and CEO of the ATM Group Milan Transport Company and Deputy Chairman of Alitalia. He served as Board Member and member of the Executive Committee of Telecom Italia and as Board Member of Intesa Sanpaolo. and Vice President of the Cnel (Economy and Labour National Council), Catania is Member of the Board of Directors of Fondazione Asphi Onlus (Italian Foundation to support projects aimed at reducing disabilities through to the information technology) , of the Executive Commitee of the Council for The United State and Italy and of the Board of Assonime and member of public companies. He is Knight of Labour.
