Launched in 2013, “Italy Meets the United States of America” New York series is an annual independent gathering to enhance business between the two countries and make Italy a destination for business beyond the iconic 4 Fs industries: Fashion, Food, Furniture and Ferrari.
Every year in New York leaders from industry and government together with US executives and private equity — that have invested successfully in Italy — discuss the opportunities for investments.
In 2016, the Italian Business & Investment Initiative has launched the Italian chapter.
Despite all the hype about the Italian sound and according to the United States Census Bureau, Italy’s export to the US were US$45 billion in 2016 while US Foreign Direct Investments to Italy were US$ 300 million in 2015 (Italy ranking 38th as US destination) while FDI to the US from Italy hit an all-time-high of US$ 7.3 billion (Source: Bureau of Economic Analysis).
It is remarkable that in 2017 Italy does not have any multimedia platform in English from Italy. If you do not speak Italian, Italy does not inform you. The Summits serve, furthermore, the purpose of providing continuous educated information on Italy’s economy and reforms beyond its debt, deficit and change in governments.
This initiative enjoys the support of leading Italian and US companies and has as co-promoters the Action Institute, American Chamber of Commerce, Aspen Institute, the America Study Center, US-Italy Council and Bocconi University.
